Meet the Art Teacher!Hello! I am Mrs. Brenda Weiskopf, the Kindergarten - 4th Grade Art teacher! This is my 12th year teaching at Big Hollow, 13th if you include time spent as a substitute teacher many, many years ago. This is my 2nd year teaching Art Education. Prior to last year, I taught 2nd grade for 5 years, and before that, 1st grade also for 5 years. I have enjoyed my time on both teams and in both the Primary and Elementary buildings. Now, I'm enjoying being a little part of everyone's week as the Art teacher! In addition to teaching, I am also the Primary and Elementary schools yearbook coordinator. Which has been a very fun way for me to utilize the art of photography as well!
Prior to getting my teaching certificate from Trinity International University in 2004, I had studied Photography/Film and Electronic Media at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1998. (I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled my parents are that I'm finally utilizing all of my college education now teaching Art. ;-) ) When I'm not teaching, I'm a wife and mother. My husband Kevin and I recently celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary in July and we are parents to seven year old twins, Rachel and Patrick who are in 2nd grade this year. As if life with twins isn't crazy enough, we also have a 3 year old beagle mix at home named Gus that likes to keep us on our toes. I am very active in my children's lives, busy chauffeuring them to various activities, and sports. When I find I have spare time, which isn't often, I enjoy working out, cooking, baking, family bike rides and walks, shopping (much to my husband's dismay) and spending time with friends and extended family. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit about me, I look forward to getting to know your child in Art class this school year! |
