My third graders have been doing a great job working hard on their space themed project. It definitely was messy at moments, as art can be but the end results were totally worth it! This lesson was found on one of my go to sources Deep Space Sparkle and can be found here...www.deepspacesparkle.com/planets-and-galaxy-project-for-fifth/ I really liked giving students the chance to blend, shade, and play with value using chalk pastels.
For the backgrounds, they used metallic tempera paints and splattered multiple colors over black paper. Some added more after it dried and they glued their planets on. They were also encouraged to add other details to the planets (rings, etc.)
They turned out great, what do you think?
